I-JOISTS – Advanced Engineered wood flooring solutions
I joists are engineered wood products that offer a number of advantages over traditional solid lumber joists. Lighter and easier to work with, they offer superior strength and rigidity. I joists also provide a more uniform and stable surface for attaching drywall and other finishes. They can be manufactured to custom specifications, which can be an advantage in certain applications.
LP® SolidStart® I-Joists
LP® SolidStart® I-Joists are more versatile than open web floor trusses and more uniform and dimensionally stable than lumber. They are made by combining laminated veneer lumber (LVL) or finger-jointed sawn lumber flanges with a web of oriented strand board (OSB) to produce an I-shaped structural member.
Wider flanges ensure that the floors you build are sturdy and stable. The webs allow plumbing and wiring to pass through without extra framing, while the flanges resist bending — ideal for long spans in floors, ceilings and roofs. I-Joists can be trimmed on-site, and long lengths allow ceilings and floors to be designed with fewer pieces, saving installation time.
